I hope you're all well today and that you had a good day yesterday, the weather picked up nicely yesterday afternoon so I thought I would get out for a nice long walk with Indie. Well....we did get out for a walk, and it did take a long time but...we didn't get very far. Indie was in a particularly stubborn mood and didn't want to go for her walk at all. When Indie doesn't want to walk she just stops in the spot and refuses to budge, and no amount of pulling on the lead will help. Unfortunately for her though, I wasn't giving in this time, so with a lot of persistence and encouragement (and maybe a few treats), we managed to go for a short walk which took a long time! It took us 30mins to walk a distance that we usually do in 15mins. Oh, she might look all cute and sweet in the photos you see but when she's in her stubborn mood it's a whole different story!!!
I got some great Limericks from some of you yesterday, I hope you enjoyed writing them. It can be hard to find rhyming words sometimes but it can be fun too.
Here are just some of the Limericks you wrote:
There was a dog called Indie,
Whose owners name was Mindy,
She yelled out “Oh, JEEPERS!”,
And found a Ms Cheevers,
And now to this day she is giddy.
by Aaron
There was a tall girl from Spain
Her arms were always in pain
She didn’t know what to do
So she came to you
And you helped her have no more pain
by Lauren
There once was a puppy called Indie
And she could not go on a walk because it was windy
She’d frolic and play
On a nice sunny day
But when the weather turned cold
She couldn't withhold
The urge to snuggle down with Ms Cheevers by the fire
This will always be her one and only desire!
by Mollie
There was a young man from Clare.
Who had brown wavy hair.
He fell flat on his face.
And broke his pencil case.
And walked away with no care.
by Adam
There was a young man from Clare
Who had lovely curly hair
He stayed up all night
Dancing in the moonlight
And sang songs to everyone’s delight
by Sam
Well done on some great Limericks Rang a Cúig, they really made me smile.
Adam found 210 words in Florence Nightingale! Well done Adam, did anyone else find as many? And Lily sent me some really interesting facts about Florence Nightingale, we have a lovely book about Florence Nightingale in our class library which Lily had been reading. Lily learned that Florence Nightingale's nickname was the Lady with the Lamp. She was born on the 12th of May 1820 and died on the 13 of August 1910. She got her name because she was born in Florence, Italy. She was the first person to find modern Nursing, she worked as Nurse during the Crimean War helping wounded soldiers. Thanks for sharing those really interesting facts Lily.
Did any of you get time to thanks our Nurses on International Nurses Day yesterday? Don't worry if you didn't, perhaps if you have time in the next while you might get a chance to do it.
Some of you have been asking about your workbooks, I know a lot of your workbooks are still in our classroom as we didn't expect to be out of school for this long. However, if you do have any of your workbooks at home, you may continue to work away on them yourselves if you want to.
I hope you're thinking about and working away on your Inventions project, remember it should be a project you enjoy doing, don't get worried or feel stressed about it. You can be as creative as you like and present it in whichever way you prefer, the page I sent just offers you some guidelines and suggestions. Let me know if you have any questions about it.
Today's Challenges:
Meditation: Try and take some time out to do a meditation exercise. You could do one of the meditations Ms Greene practises with you, or you could sit outside close your eyes and just listen to the sounds around you (I enjoy doing this and particularly listening to the different birds). You could play a piece of music, close your eyes and sit quietly while you listen to it.
Kindness: Sweep or hoover the floor.
Word Challenge: How many words can you find in IndiePipRubenLola? NO CHEATING! NO GOOGLE! I'm onto you guys!
Have a lovely day Rang a Cúig and keep your fingers crossed that Indie is better behaved on her walk today, otherwise I'm going to have to use a Step Chart for her!
Stay Safe and Take Care,
Ms Cheevers
