Maths
· Revise x6 and x7. Test yourself with sums e.g. 6x7, 7x1, 6x3. Practice counting up in 6’s and 7’s e.g. 6, 12, 18, 24, 30 etc.
· As always, if something is very difficult in the mental maths work, have a guess or skip it!
· Cm= centimetre, mm= millimetre, m= metre
· When measuring remember to start at zero!
· Use a ruler or measuring tape to complete measuring activities. Examine how many mm in a cm, how many cm in an inch, how many cm and inches in a metre.
· If you do not have a ruler or measuring tape estimate the lengths for Mondays activity- keeping in mind that 3cm will be shorter than 5cm etc.
· If you do not have a ruler, find a small object that you can use to measure length with. E.g. measure how long something is in pencil parers. The bottle was 12 pencil parers long, the phone was 7 pencil parers long.
· Wednesdays activity- the perimeter of a shape is the distance around the outside of the shape. To find the perimeter you need to measure each side of the shape and add them together
· Thursdays activity- use a measuring tape to measure the perimeter of your bed, wardrobe and room in metres. Draw a picture of your room where 1m= 1cm. So, if your bed is 2.5 metres long and 1 metre wide, your will draw a rectangle with a length of 2.5 centimetres and width of 1 centimetre wide
· If you do not have a measuring tape, ask an adult to help you estimate one metre in length. You can cut a piece of string or wool to the length you think is a metre and use this to measure. If you have an object you think is approximately one meter you can use this to measure with.
· Investigate how far 2 metres is. Within your house and outside, pick 5 objects and stand 2 metres away from them e.g. stand 2 metres away from a tree, from the tv, from a family member. Measure a 2-metre distance outside on the footpath. If possible, mark this distance with chalk or tape to help people in your community keep the correct distance when out and about.

You can use colours as well if you have them. Sit across from your partner and use a bag or cereal box to block your view of their page. Then start drawing! Remember you need to tell your partner everything you draw and where, so they can create the same picture. E.g. draw a small sun in the top left corner of the page. Draw a large tree underneath the sun. Take turns giving instructions. The goal is to have very similar pictures at the end of the game.
