Dear 6th class,
I hope you are keeping well and staying safe during our school closure. I know it is a strange and confusing time. I also know it is very hard for you to stay at home all the time and to be away from your friends. I just wanted to check in with you and let you know that I am thinking about you and hoping that you are ‘being the best you can be’ at home.
Keep up your reading, newspapers, magazines, comics even If you've read them before. and do lots of jobs around the house to be helpful. Your way to make life a little easier for your family can be doing jobs around the house, filling and emptying the dishwasher, keeping your bedroom nice and tidy or maybe making a cup of tea and a sandwich for your parents. Get as much exercise as you can (at home) and don’t spend too much time on your tablets or phones!
Don't forget! Meditation time Is 12.00! You can do It at any time but Keep It up! You can encourage your little brothers and sisters to try It too. For younger children start with a few minutes and then add on as they get used to It. Don't get cross If they find It hard.
Remember we did some exercises and stretches In class, try them at home. Remember the eye exercises, head straight, eyes up (count to 5), down, left, right, top right, bottom left, bottom right, top left. These are important exercises If you are reading a lot, using tablets/laptops and you can do them a few times a day and can be for younger brothers and sisters too.
Mass Is on RTE News Now at 10.30 each day and you can watch It and practice responses like we did In the church so you will be ready for your confirmation which hopefully will happen at some later date.
I will be sending home some schoolwork for you to do at home after Easter. If you are finding it hard, let someone know. They can contact me and I will try my very best to help you. I hope to see some of your lovely work on the ‘Our Work’ page of our school website. I also look forward to reading your news, stories and book reviews in the ‘Newsletter’ page on the website.
We don’t know yet when we will be back to school but I can’t wait to see you all again.
In the meantime, let’s all do our bit to stay safe and healthy – Wash your hands, stay at home and remember the rules of social distancing.
Best Wishes
Ms Hurley.
