Good morning Rang a Sé,
I hope you all had a lovely weekend celebrating your graduation from primary school! It's a big milestone in your lives and I am delighted we got to mark the occasion together on Friday. Thank you all for joining our online graduation, it was lovely to see all your faces again and hopefully we can meet in person soon. You should be so proud of yourselves and how you have coped with all the changes over the past few months. It is not the end to your primary school years that you were expecting, but it is definitely one of a kind! Perhaps this week you would like to reflect on this time and write down how your graduation and end to primary school was different to other years, it might be something you would like to look back on in the future.
I have many lovely memories of my time as your 6th class teacher. We had our trip to Bray Bowl with your JEP earnings at the start of the year, learned new skills with Jackie in Gaelic and Mick in Basketball, and sang at many school events, as well as at the turning on of the Christmas lights and the St. Catherine's Christmas concert. We made papier maché planets, pharaoh portraits and stenciled our own prints like Banksy. We had Breakfast Club and lots of reward parties, playing outside, making rice crispy buns and classroom discos. We played cluichí clós with 2nd class and created puppet shows, An Buachaillín Sinsear, Cinnín Ór agus na Trí Bhéar and Na Trí Mhuicín. We had great fun during Science Week, exploring electricity, making our own shoes and building towers and bridges. One of my favourite memories from our time in 6th class was our trip to see CCA perform their school play on our last week together in school.
I have really enjoyed being your teacher this year and I am so proud of you all. You are a wonderful class full of interesting, bright and fun students and I wish you every success as you move on to the next chapter of your education. It's a nervous and exciting time moving to secondary school, but I know you will all have a wonderful time in your new schools and that there are lots of adventures to come. Please come back to Newtownmountkennedy Primary School and let us know how you are getting on.
Be kind to each other and have an amazing summer, you definitely deserve a break!
Thanks for a great year,
Take care,
Ms. Maguire
