I can't believe we are at the end of Junior Infants already! You have all done so well!
June is usually a busy month filled with activities and finishing up different topics. This June was no different, we had fun playing at the seaside and in the ice cream van in Aistear and then our beach was invaded by pirates! We also were lucky enough to have fun school events on this month with a visit from Alpacas and the ice cream van! We also had time for Sports Day and Dance with Zoe!

Aistear
This month we had the seaside and the ice cream van as our first set up for Aistear. This involved a beach set up in the role play area, with an ice cream van/shop, sand play, playdough play and lego as construction. In the second half of the month our lovely beach was taken over by pirates in the roleplay area, we had treasure map making, water play and lego for construction. The students really enjoyed our topic this month, and it was great as the weather was nice so some of the students were visiting the beach at the weekends and were able to tell us all about it!
For the second half of the month we had a Pirate invasion at our lovely beach! The other stations included water, construction and treasure map making! The boys and girls loved this topic!
Dance with Zoe
For the first two weeks of June we were able to get outside and do dance classes with Zoe! This was great fun and engaging for all the students! Zoe and the students would practice their balancing and movements together!
Sports DayDue to this year being so different, we were unable to hold our usual whole school sports day, but we managed to do a smaller version! So we had four stations: Fun and run GAA, Relays , Art and athletic Circuits. The students enjoyed being outside all day and running around playing games. We also got to enjoy our lunch outdoors too! | AlpacasAs we were unable to get out on a school tour this year, we had a lovely visit from K2Alpacas! Four gorgeous alpacas arrived to our school on a Thursday morning with their bright colourful necklaces. We were able to get up close and personal with them and pet them gently on their backs. We also learned a lot from their carers, like to never stand behind them as they may kick you, and not to pet their heads. The students loved meeting Tom and Barry! |
We finished the year up with our in school awards ceremony where we received our medals and Aoibhinn won an award for using her Gaeilge gach la! (everyday) and then a lovely teddy bear picnic on the green!
Best of luck!
I know this year has been different to others and hopefully things will get back to normal soon so that you can all experience things like an in person assembly with the other classes and the usual activity filled sports day and school tours! However despite its challenges this year you have all achieved so much and you should be so proud of yourselves!
I have loved having you all in my class this year, and our zooms together during online learning. You have all made my days brighter with your smiles and funny stories and jokes and I wish you all the best of luck in Senior Infants!
I hope you all have a lovely summer holidays!
