Please find the Curriculum Update document for Sept/ Oct attached below. Keep scrolling down to see some class photos of our time together so far! :-)
Well done to all the amazing boys and girls in Ms. Leahy's first class- you have all had a brilliant first few months! 'Back-to-school' this year was so different, and difficult, but the children have been so positive and full of fun!! :-) I think they have adapted better than some of us adults, they deserve a HUGE 'buladh bos'!!! I have really enjoyed getting to know each child in my class so far- they are a very kind and friendly bunch! Thank you to parents too for being so cooperative and friendly (from afar)... Our September was very busy but I managed to take a few photos of the children doing some art and making constructions in groups. They were constructing different types of houses- detached, semi-detached, terraced houses etc.
In October we focused mainly on Autumn, the children went on an Autumn walk to the woods, collected leaves, pine cones and conkers. They then used their findings to make Autumn paint prints and later Play-doh prints.
We also did Autumn recount writing, drama in groups, acrostic poems and a not-so-successful science experiment to find out why the leaves change colour. We couldn't recreate the process but we know it happens when the chlorophyll breaks down.
The children also had fun at their well-earned 'cinema time' last Friday; they were well dressed up and enjoyed making chocolate apples. Of course, I forgot to take photos of most of these nice activities; I aim to do better in November!! I really hope you and your family are keeping safe during this 'locked down' midterm break and make sure to keep an eye out in the 'Bray People' for photos of the children in their Halloween costumes.
