Way to go, Second Class!
We have been SO busy this Term with lots of different and exciting things happening in school! We had 'Active Schools Week' in school and we took part in loads of fun activities and moved our bodies in lots of different ways! It was lots of fun!
In SPHE, we discussed 'Friendship' and the qualities of a good friend, we even made beautiful 'Friendship Pies' reminding us of ways to be kind, considerate and helpful.
In SESE, we went on a 'Minibeast Hunt' discussing all of the different minibeasts in our locality and then we created 'Magnifying Minibeast' masterpieces! We also discussed 'mixtures' and if materials could dissolve or not in water! It was great!
We discussed 'An Teilifís' in Gaeilge and made our very own cláir teilifíse!
We have done so much more this term: Length, Money and Problem-Solving in Maths, Persuasive writing in English, Road Safety, Strangers and Touches in SPHE, Circuits and Stations (including skipping) in PE, 'The Sun Wizard' in Drama and LOTS more! We have had such fun in Term 3 in Second Class and have worked so hard!
Way to go, Second Class!
Hello Second Class,
Well done on continuing to produce such fantastic work! You are making me so proud. I can tell that a lot of you have been doing a lot of reading at home and it was so lovely to hear some of you last week. Well done! I was so impressed with the Saint Brigid crosses that you all made Second class and they were beautifully decorated, too! See if you can spot your one!
I LOVED the Spring artwork that you created using cupcake cases at home! Such beautiful, colourful Spring flowers! They would certainly brighten up any room! Check some of them out!
On Friday, we had a lot of fun during our class check-in making a 'Cake in a Mug' and I'm sure lots of you are looking forward to Wednesday when we all attempt to do this together on our class check-in! We are going to have so much fun! I wonder will yours turn out as fantastic as mine did, Second class?
We have are now on Week 5 of Remote Learning and you are continuing to make me super proud! Keep up the spectacular work Second class and remember, even though we are apart, we are still very much together!
Hello Second Class,
I can't believe that it is February already and we are on our fourth week of online learning! Again, I am so proud of you all and everything that you are doing at home! I really loved looking at all of your work and I particularly loved listening to some of you reading this week! It was such a treat, well done!
We are learning all about the 1960's and we talked about the famous Andy Warhol and Pop Art. I was so impressed with all of your colourful Doughnut Pop Art! They brightened up my week!
We have a busy week this week in Second Class, with Saint Brigid's Day on Monday and making crosses out of newspaper and glossy magazines and Children's Mental Health Week this week! Don't forget on Wednesday, it is 'Inside Out Day' and we are coming to our class check-in wearing our clothes inside out! This is to remind us to always be kind and to think of others. How someone looks on the outside doesn't always reflect how they are truly feeling on the inside!
Keep up the fantastic work Second Class,
Hello Second class,
I hope that you all had a lovely weekend and enjoyed the sprinkle of snow!
Well done on all of your hard work last week. I loved seeing all your cheery faces every morning, it brightens up my day! It was lovely to celebrate 'National Hugging Day' this week, taking time to give our Mums and Dads a hug and to say thank you for everything that they are doing!
Our pyjama dress-up was so much fun on Friday and we all were super cosy, it was such a treat! Even Spencer Bear made an appearance!
The work that you are uploading to Google Classroom is simply fantastic and all of you continue to impress me! Well done Second class! I saw lots of amazing Jackson Pollock inspired art work, which I hope weren’t too messy to create! Check some of them out!
As always, our weekly timetable will be uploaded to Google Classroom and we will meet every morning at 9:30 on Zoom. Remember Second class, ‘teamwork makes the dream work’ so let's keep playing our part! I’m so proud of you all!
Hello Second class,
I hope you all had a lovely weekend and spent some time outside enjoying the sunshine!
Well done on all of your hard work last week. I loved seeing all your cheery faces every morning, it brightened up my day! The work that you have been uploading to google classroom is simply fantastic and all of you are continuing to impress me! Well done Second class! I know that you are all trying your hardest and I am hoping that you are ‘being the best you can be’ at home.
‘Show and Tell’ was so much fun on Friday and I loved seeing some of your toys, art work and amazing pets! I think we were all flabbergasted at Michael’s pet snake, Lily! She certainly grabbed everyone’s attention (including Mums and Dads) during our Google meet. Perhaps I should ask Ms. Lennon if we can get one for the 2nd class classroom?
Similarly to last week, I will upload our weekly timetable to Google classroom and we will meet every morning at 9:30am on Zoom to discuss our plan for the day (and have some fun too, of course!) As always, If you are finding the work tricky, you can let someone know. They can contact me and I will try my very best to help you. You can make contact with me through my school email: email@example.com.
I had a busy weekend making these colourful beanbags for our classroom! With help from my Mum, we made one for everyone in Second class, even one for me! How fabulous do they look? I can’t wait until we are back in school to play lots of fun games with them!
Looking forward to seeing all of your faces tomorrow on our daily Zoom. Remember Second class, ‘teamwork makes the dream work’, so let's keep doing our little bit to help everyone!
I’m so proud of you all,
Hello Second class,
I hope this letter finds you well and that you had a lovely Christmas! I hope Santa brought you what you wanted and I cannot wait to hear all your news!
I’m sure, like me, you are missing school and I just wanted to let you know I am proud of you all!
It is really hard not being able to see your friends and some members of your family, but it is very important that we continue to follow the HSE guidelines by staying at home. I know you are doing a great job! I just wanted to check in with you and let you know that I am thinking about you and hoping that you are ‘being the best you can be’ at home.
I wanted to show you a picture of our hyacinth bulb. Look what happened to it over the Christmas break! Perhaps, our cheeky Elfie had something to do with this!
Please continue to wash your hands carefully, just like we do in school. Don’t forget to catch your sneezes and coughs in tissues and dispose of them. If you have no tissue, then the crook of your elbow is the next best thing.
I’m sure you’ve played outside in the snow and I can picture some of you dancing round your gardens! Do you remember our ‘12 Days of Christmas’ dance? That was so much fun! Whatever you are doing, try to have busy times during your day. Start each day with a reason to be grateful and continue to be kind to your parents or siblings, just like we do to everyone in our school. Don’t forget to exercise and sing (we all missed singing so much this year in school, but luckily we can sing at home).
I will be uploading some school work for you to do at home. I will also be checking in with all of you every morning on Google Classroom and I will explain the work for the day on this (and we shall have some fun too).
I look forward to hearing your news, doing ‘Show and Tell’ and seeing all of your lovely faces again, even if it isn’t in the classroom! If you are finding the work tricky, let someone know. They can contact me and I will try my very best to help you. You can make contact with me through my school email: firstname.lastname@example.org. You can email me any completed work and I can post it here on our Class blog page!
We don’t know yet when we will be back to school, but I can’t wait to see you all in the classroom again! Remember our second class motto….’teamwork makes the dream work’ so if we all do our little bit, the job gets done! Keep it up!
We were so busy in Term 1 of school that we forgot to post the amazing things that we have been doing in the classroom! We had such fun during Science week in November, doing lots of different experiments! Similarly in Space week, we learnt about animals that went to Space and the different astronauts that walked on the moon! We did a Science experiment to investigate craters and the moons surface. It was so enjoyable (although our classroom smelt like cocoa powder for days!)
We learnt about an amazing artist Salvador Dali and looked at his fabulous artwork. We created our own version of 'melting clocks' and then we looked at another piece of artwork and created fabulous long-legged birds! How beautiful are they?
We practiced so much for our Christmas show on Zoom and we had such fun recording this! While it was very different to last years recording, we still really enjoyed practicing and dressing up in our costumes! A fantastic term one in Second Class completed!
