School's Out Out For The Summer!

Hi everyone,

You made it! The last day of 3rd class! All is calm again this morning after the crazy thunder and lightening during the night!

What a strange end to the year it’s been and certainly not how I saw my first year in Newtown finishing. But I’ve enjoyed every minute and it wouldn’t have been possible without all of you. Thank you again for all your efforts over the year and for being so strong and resilient over the past few months. I hope you have enjoyed your first year in the senior school and are looking forward to returning in September.

Not it’s time to relax because all the hard work is done. I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable summer.

Conas atá sibh? Well done on making it to the last week and for embracing the strange changes to your lives over the past few months. I hope everybody is looking forward to a much deserved break from school work but don’t forget to keep up some reading! 📚 Thank you everybody for working so hard throughout the year. You have been a great class and I have really enjoyed teaching you!

How did you get on with Sports Week? Did you master all the challenges? Well done for your efforts and remember you have all summer long to practice the shoe balance or to add another roll of toilet paper to your head! A big congrats to 6th Class who graduated last Friday and we wish them the best of luck as they move onto secondary school.

The activities this week will be based on 3rd Class Reflections and it would be great if you could share some of these! Don’t forget to keep active and get out and about. Hopefully the weather picks up so everybody can properly enjoy the holidays.

I hope everybody is well and is looking forward to Sports Week!

A list of daily activities has been posted to Aladdin and you can also access the video links and all the details on the school website! (http://www.newtownprimary.ie/sports-week.html)
We had lots of fun making the videos and I look forward to seeing your attempts (photos/videos etc) if you want to share them with me! Make sure to check out the videos and see how I got on! Hopefully the weather stays dry so you can get outside and make the most of the week. 🌞

I too have been out and about staying active by cycling and hiking. Now that restrictions have eased we can venture a little further! I hope everybody really enjoys the week and has lots of fun!

Good morning 3rd Class,

I hope you are all well and enjoyed taking part in Well-being Week last week. A big well done to everyone for continuing to work hard and thank you to those who shared their projects. This week is ‘Virtual School Tour Week’ and you will be taken on a different virtual tour each day from the comfort of your sofa or kitchen table! No need to queue or wait for the bus or bring a packed lunch! The whole school will be visiting the same location each day so you can have fun and share the experience with your younger/older brothers and sisters.

As always activities and tour links will be shared on Aladdin and the school website. If you want a break from your device there is also the option of going on a ‘Camping Tour’ in the outside activities area of the website.

Thank you to those who have already shared their ‘Le Chéile agus Óna Chéile’ Art Project pictures. The deadline has been extended until this Wednesday so either drop them into the box in the school foyer or email them in! (Instructions on website homepage!)

Good Morning 3rd Class,

Conas atá sibh? Another bright, sunny morning as we begin our first week of June! Today was the day we were due to go on our school tour! Who remembers where? A few who were nosing around my table a few months back caught a glimpse and may have joined the dots!!
... Squirrel Scramble in Kilruddery would have been lovely on a day like this! 😎

I hope everybody had a nice weekend. I’m sure you spent lots of time outside, like myself! I was busy standing over the BBQ again and was out and about walking, running and enjoying the weather. Did anybody see the space rocket launch? Apparently it could be seen over the west of Ireland because of the clear skies that evening. Pretty cool! I had to go into school last week and it felt very strange and a lot quieter than normal. The calendar in the classroom was unchanged from the 12th of March!

This week we are focussing on ‘well-being’. That means looking after yourself and taking time to relax and think about all the good things in your life. Perhaps you might like to do some relaxing activities such as yoga or meditation over the week? You will see that lots of the activities are based around this theme this week. We are also running an Art project called ‘Le Chéile agus Óna Chéile’ (Together and Apart). All the details and information are explained in the attachment below or on the main website page and you have until this Friday (5th of June) to complete.

Well done to everybody who I know have been busy working hard at home and thanks to those who have shared their brilliant work with me. I look forward to reading your projects as they come through during the week. Good Morning 3rd Class,

I hope everybody had a nice weekend. We’re back to the sunshine after a wet and windy start to the weekend! 😎 I went for a run around Vartry Reservoir yesterday and had a BBQ in the evening!

Work is on Aladdin for the week. There are also some additional activities attached as well as on the school website. (http://www.newtownprimary.ie/extra-activities) Well done to everyone on your great project work and thank you to those who have shared their work. I know lots of you were busy rooting through your kitchens for items to weigh and compare for Maths!

Our next project will be based on something that interests or fascinates you and I look forward to seeing these over the next 2 weeks!
