Good Morning Rang a Cúig,
I hope you're all well this morning. Ruben, Pip & Lola want to know if you liked their photos yesterday. They seem to be already over their moment of fame as they have all disappeared this morning and I just have Indie sleeping on her blanket beside me. I think the cats just wanted to prove a point and to let you all know they are important too. Now they've done that, they're happy to sit back and let Indie take over again for a while.
Do you remember when you were in the Junior School and you did your News with your teachers? Well today's Blog is a bit like that. You've heard so much of my news and I've lots of news from some of you over the past few days so I thought I'd let you read what some of your classmates are up to. I know it's not the same as being in the classroom but it's nice to have a bit of a connection.
Adam told me yesterday that it is his sister, Holly's, birthday today. He told me to guess what that meant. He gave me a hint: First word is 9 letters, Second word is 4 letters. Can you guess what it is? At first I thought 'Birthday Cake' but Birthday only has 8 letters so I think it might be "Chocolate Cake' (my favourite!!) But, it could be 'Raspberry Cake' or maybe it's not even a cake at all. I'm hoping Adam will let me know today if I was right.
Lauren tried out the Salt Dough recipe I gave you the other day, she made some models of her name and her brother's name. She said she has two more creations in progress which we have to wait to find out more about. What is with you all leaving me on cliffhangers? Adam with the birthday hint, Lauren with the Salt Dough creations... Is this your revenge for all the Fudge Cliffhangers?

Aneta is writing what is turning out to be a very gripping book by writing a new chapter each week with her spelling words. Each chapter follows on from the previous week and she leaves me on a cliffhanger every time. I have to wait a whole week to find out what happens next. It's an excellent story and perhaps when she's finished she might make it into a book and share it with you all.
Aaron is becoming quite the Masterchef, he made Tuna Pasta all by himself for his family the other day and he makes pizza from scratch every Friday with his dad. He has also been doing Couch 2 5K with his mum and he is doing a jigsaw of a Golden Temple. He told me he went walking and cycling with Finn, making sure they kept their social distance.
Lily is almost finished reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, in fact I bet by the time you read this Blog she'll be finished. She is planning to read a Jacqueline Wilson novel next. She is keeping up with her Gymnastics practice and won a prize recently through a Zoom competition her gymnastics club organised. She was also up in the woods and has been out walking with her dog Gypsy.
Sam told me about his uncle's beehive and how he gave him some homemade honey from it. He said it was delicious. He could see lots of bees swarming around busy at work so he had to keep his distance. Sam's uncle told him to keep an eye out for the Queen Bee as she is the boss and the most important. I think perhaps Indie is the Queen Bee of my house!
Mollie sent me some photos of her cats Minky and Scout. They are very beautiful cats. MInky has no ears because they were eaten by a buzzard when she was a kitten and Scout tried to jump out the upstairs window and nearly broke his paw but he is OK thankfully. Cats can get themselves into awful mischief sometimes!
Yosr has been watching Spongebob Squarepants in Gaeilge and thought it was really funny. She has also been getting her brother Hedi to solve her Gaeilge wordsearches.
Some of you are working on your Inventions project and have told me about your own inventions. Kacey invented a Personal Wardrobe, Adam invented a Wheelchair Lift, Aaron invented a Telepathic Controller and Lauren invented Simulator Glasses. It is great to see so many creative ideas but don't worry if you can't come up with an idea, perhaps you might improve something that has already been invented, or you might just do the first part of the project which is about an invention that already exists that changed the world for example, the Lightbulb, the Phone, the Telescope, the Car etc.
It is so nice to hear from you and to hear what you have been up to so here is something you could do if you like.
Why don't you send me a letter telling me what you have been up to. What you are missing while we are on lockdown and what you are enjoying about being on lockdown. What are you looking forward to? How are you feeling? What do you find hardest about this time? Have you taken up any new hobbies or challenges?
You could type them in a Google Docs and share it with me (lcheevers@newtownprimary.ie), you could ask your parents to email it to me or you could write a letter to me and post it to the school. Remember when we are writing a letter or email, we write the person's name and then go to a new line. We write our letter and then at the end, we go to a new line and write a goodbye greeting and then our names on another new line. If you're not sure just check to see how I write the blog each day. I start with "Good morning Rang a Cúig", then I go to a new line and write all the news (remember to use paragraphs), when I am finished my news I go to a new line and write "Take Care and Stay Safe", finally I go to a new line and write/sign my name.
Do you know how to write an address on an envelope, we write each part under the other.
My address at school would be:
Ms Cheevers
Senior School Building
Newtownmountkennedy Primary School
Newtownmountkennedy
Co. Wicklow
I would love to hear from you and to share some of your news instead of boring you with my news all the time.
It is another sunny day outside Rang a Cúig so remember to stay active and get some fresh air,
Have a lovely day,
Take Care and Stay Safe,
Ms Cheevers
