April 2020
Dear parents.
I hope you and your family are safe and well. I hope by now you are in a routine that suits you and your family situation. These are strange and unprecedented times, everyone’s situation is different so any ideas /suggestions that I send home may not suit you all. Pick what is relevant to you and your child. I will try to keep all suggestions SIMPLE, DOABLE and PRACTICAL.
I really miss seeing your children’s little faces each day. They are wonderful children who bring a smile to my face every day. They were all getting on so well in school particularly with their reading which made me very proud. All I’ll say is do what you can, don’t put yourself under any pressure. There is so much learning in the everyday tasks like dressing, toileting, washing, gardening, cooking, game playing and chores. Don’t’ feel guilty if you are not doing ‘structured learning’ at a desk, I understand how challenging this can be. Play and talk with your child, label objects around the house, bounce on a trampoline (if you have one), throw a ball, but above all have fun and don’t stress.
Suggestions and ideas will be put up on Aladdin after the Easter holidays. You can check in there on a weekly basis, but I will continue to support you on an individual basis via my school email address [email protected]. Remember you are not a trained teacher, you are your child’s primary care giver so don’t put yourself under too much pressure.
I wish you all well and hope we will be back in school as soon as it is safe to be.
Take care.
