Dear Second Class,
I can’t quite believe that next week will be our last week of school this year. In ways it feels like forever since we were together in March and in other ways if feels like the year was over in a flash! I had such a great year teaching you all and feel very lucky to have had you all in my class.
There were lots of things we had planned to do that we couldn’t and although this is disappointing now, hopefully next year will be full of adventure!
I know it can be nerve wrecking moving to a new building but it is also an exciting time for you all! You did such a fantastic job being the oldest classes in the junior building and gave such a great example to younger classes of how to behave. Remember even though they are different buildings they're the same school and if you keep behaving and working as hard as you did this year you will have no worries!
It will be a bit different in September being the youngest in the building but I’m sure within the first week you will feel at home! There will be familiar faces and maybe some older brothers and sisters. If you are feeling nervous, don’t be afraid to talk to each other, your family or your teacher. A worry shared is a worry halved! You are all such good friends to each other, keep looking out for each other and being kind.
One of the things that Ms Meldon and I would have done to was bring you on a ‘tour’ of your new school. Since we can't all visit the school at the moment, we have decided to do a ‘virtual’ tour instead…

Picture 1 & 2: Welcome to the Senior School! Here is the sign to the school and the main entrance. This is the entrance the teachers use and also the ones parents use when they visit the school.
Picture 3,4,5 & 6 show the entrance you will use and the yard where you will line up each morning and break time, and where you will spend you breaks playing all the games you played in the Junior School yard. The last picture shows the steps to the top field. We stood on these a few months ago on a Nature Walk. Older classes have their break up there and you might use it for PE, golden time and on sports day.
Your classroom isn't ready yet but in these pictures you can see oifig an phríomhoide - Ms Lennon's office and Fiona's office, Sinéad is there sometimes too. This will be where you go if your teacher sends you to collect photocopying!
I hope you have gotten something from our virtual tour. If you are feeling worried or would just like to chat to me over the phone before we break up for the summer let me know via email (cmonahan@newtownprimary.ie) and we can set up a time for a call.
Enjoy the rest of Sports Week and have a great weekend!
Ms Monahan :-)
