December Update

Happy Holidays!

December is always a very busy month in school! This month we spent our time singing and practicing for the Christmas play, making lots of Christmas cards and art, having daily visits from our Class Elf and lots of Christmas treats! 

Aistear

Our Aistear area was based on the topic of the 'Christmas Post Office ' and 'Santa's Workshop' this month. We had roleplay, small world, art, construction and the train track. 

Roleplay

First our role play area was turned into a Post Office where the students had to take on the role of a post man or a customer trying to post a card or parcel. Then it was turned into Santas workshop where the students turned into elves to help santa  get the presents ready for Christmas Eve! 

Small World

Our small world for the Post Office was the train set, where the students could build a large train track for a postal delivery train that would deliver the post around the country. During Santas Workshop they had the dolls house which they could turn into a house that Santa was visiting on Christmas Eve, or have it as Santas Workshop.

Art

We had an art area during the Post Office Aistear where the students created Christmas Cards that we would later Post home to our families.

Construction

In Construction students were building their own Santa Workshop, or sleigh for Santa to travel around on. 

Winter walk

We went on a Winter Walk to post our Christmas cards to our families. We were very lucky as the post man was actually at the Post box when we went and he let us put our letters straight into his bag of letters! 

Christmas Treats

As the students had worked so hard this term and performed excellent Christmas plays the students received a lot of special treats. We had a visit from Santa, hot chocolate in class, and we had Christmas Jumper day!
