Welcome to our November Update!

Another busy month in Junior Infants with the topic of FOOD as our theme for the month. We explored this topic through the restaurant and the bakery in Aistear, identifying healthy and unhealthy food and hot and cold food in SESE. We also made Doughnuts out of clay in art!
Aistear
The Restaurant and the bakery Aistear was a great hit with the students this month. We had our different play areas of Role play, water play, sand play, arts and crafts, small world and Construction.
Role Play Area
| Our Role play area was set up as a Restaurant where the students could play the part of the waiter/ waitress, a chef or a customer. The students loved getting into character and using all the play food as their props. For the second half of the month we had the bakery set up. Here the students could be bakers, shop assistants and customers, and they could use their playdough to make cookies or cupcakes etc. |
Water and Sand Play
For water play the students were making the drinks for the restaurant, we got a variety of tea, milkshakes and Diet coke! For the sand play the students were able to make cakes out of the sand for the Bakery.
Arts and Crafts
| For the Bakery Aistear we also had an arts and crafts area where the students were working on their coluring and cutting and sticking skills to make their own birthday cupcake. |
Construction and Small world
Students were using Lego to build and create their own restaurants and bakeries. During the restaurant topic we had small world where the students used the furniture from the doll houses and mini figures to create their own mini restaurant.
