Rang a trí.....Conas atá sibh go léir? Is dócha go bhfuil sibh maith go leor agus go bhain sibh sult agus taitneamh as an dochreidte aimsir a bhí againn ag an deireadh seachtaine. Táim comh sásta bheith ar ais leo!
Third class, I am so happy to be back with ye...what an incredible time we have had since I saw ye last. A big thank you to Mr. O Leary for filling in for me...sounds like ye have been on some breathtaking adventures with him! We wish him the very best in his next escapades!
It is so unusual to be addressing you all from my kitchen table, trying to consider how you will receive this correspondance.....at your kitchen table?, on a laptop?, phone?, in your pyjamas while you slurp your cornflakes or dressed and ready to grab your next task? Whatever way this blog finds you, I bet you are all doing your best and that is all we want from you.
We are all adapting to this new way of schooling and you guys are amazing for adapting to the sudden changes that came upon us so quickly. I am really proud of you. Continuing to do school work while at home is no easy task and it’s easy to forget or not have enough time to take care of ourselves. Our mental and emotional wellbeing is a gift to be nourished and is just as important as building those brains. Its about feeling healthy and comfortable in who we are. We do things better when we feel safe and well in ourselves. So, this week, we are focusing on Wellness and all tasks will run with this theme in mind.
On Aladdin, I have put work up for those of you who like and want to continue to do some more desktop work. That is great and I am delighted you are taking the opportunity to do this. There are some nice activities there. There are also plenty of activities on the ‘Extra Activities’ and ‘Outdoor activities’ section of the website. There is no pressure AT ALL as they are just suggestions.
I would like you to incorporate some of the following too as part of your home learning this week.

I love this one……In our house we have already made a rocket from bits and pieces in our recycling bin…..this project sounds like a great one to get involved in…the whole family could work together

This week I too am keeping an eye on my wellness. I am going to be outdoors as much as I can, hopefully swim in the sea every day. I am lucky to have the beach within my 5km. I am going to call a friend or family member every evening when the kids are finally asleep and there is no- one asking me to slice apples, or wipe bums, or break up fights, or be in goals!! And I am going to try to get to bed an hour earlier so I can read....I havn't read in ages. I am going to set aside time to get creative and do my piece for the art project.
I would absolutely love to hear from you or see any samples of work or photos of what you have been up to. Or if you would like me to post anything up on the blog, I am open to all suggestions! Mammies and Daddies, feel free to drop me an email if you have time with feedback, concerns, support request or anything at all.
Will be in touch!

I would like you to incorporate some of the following too as part of your home learning this week.
- Each night at bedtime, with whoever is with you: siblings or parents, take 5 minutes to talk about your 1 high and 1 low of the day.
- Keep a gratitude journal (see Aladdin)
- Someday this week, lay out a rug on the grass, or a tablecloth on your kitchen table. Gather some books, either story or with poems or rhymes. You could bake some buns or have some biscuits, make a nice cup of tea or a drink of sorts, and sit down together for 10minutes or so to read and share the poems or stories. Poetry/Story teatime! Here's one to get started!
- Try something new. …. like finger knitting! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3BEgP5s9Pg. I am learning how to crochet....i have had to do a lot of ripping out and starting again but with a bit of practice, am slowly getting the knack of it. I would love to have a 'covid 19 blanket' by the end!
- Paint a rock or write a message on it. Hide it somewhere in the village or your park or anywhere at all. If someone finds it, they can enjoy your artwork or message and then hide it again themselves. Keep an eye out for rocks and if you find one, enjoy it, send out some love and good wishes to the maker and then hide it again.
- Get outdoors, observe, explore, watch, listen, smell…do one of the activities on the outdoor section of the blog.
- Get creative: I know there are many of you who are very creative when it comes to writing….and some of you who loved our music generation singing with Joan. Here are some competitions that might interest you:

- Every day this week, cut back any screen time you have by half an hour and use it to play….play in your room, play in your sitting room, play in your hallway, play in your front garden, or back garden, or on your balcony, play upstairs, play downstairs, play on your own, play with a sibling, play with your teddy, play with your dog, or your cat, or your fish, just play. And when you finish playing, play some more!!!!
- 8. Also, a very exciting art project 'LE CHÉILE AGUS ÓNA CHÉILE' is happening this week.....see main page of website. I would love you all to get involved. I will post up my piece when I get it done.
