A special End of Year Blessing for all our students from Fr Smith. Thank you to Fr Smith for his continued support of our school and Congratulations again on the 60th anniversary of his ordination.
Congratulations to all our 6th class pupils who graduate online today. We wish them all the best for the future.     The Board of Management met last month on the 28th of January via Zoom.
The report from that meeting is now available HERE.  There's an Irish saying Ní neart gur cur le chéile' meaning 'There's no strength without unity' and indeed this is an appropriate time to use it as it shows how strong our school community is when we stand together, supporting each other in our work and in life. And we have done this while being away from each other and the usual rhythm of our school day: Together -Apart'. This project is an expression of the experience we have had during Covid 19 and also stands for the resilience, hope and optimism that lies within us all. Our whole school community Art Project is now on display in 5 different businesses around the village: The Credit Union, Eugenes Foodstore, Adrian Dunnes Chemist, The Parkview and The Post Office. Thank you to all those businesses for supporting our school and giving us the space to display this project. Well done to all the pupils and staff who took the time to get creative in expressing how they have been feeling or what they have been doing while away from school: to all the cutters and pasters and printers and croppers, and to the parents who helped to get it all on display. It's amazing what can be achieved when a group pulls together and this is symbolic of the incredible community we have at Newtownmountkennedy Primary School.
This project will be a great project but we need EVERYONE INVOLVED. Art pieces can be posted, dropped into either school building in the Art Box provided in the porch or can be emailed to [email protected] Please return them for Wednesday 10th June. INSTRUCTIONS Using your school post card as a template, trace around it onto paper or card. Or draw a rectangle 10cmX15cm. Think of a word that relates to you during Covid19. I am_______. See word bank if you need help with this. Write that word at the bottom of the card. Be creative in how you write your letters….as long as it can be read clearly. Print your name & surname at the top of the card, again so it can be read clearly. Design or decorate the rest of your piece any way you like.   The Parent's Association held an online meeting on the 2nd June. The report from that meeting is available HERE.
To all staff and pupils of Newtownmountkennedy Primary School, This is a most extraordinary time in our lives. We are a part of living history yet our experiences are varied. We have all needed to acknowledge the difficulties that have arisen while calling upon our strengths and skills to get through the challenges we continue to face. For us in Newtown Primary, we have stood strong together and kept the heart beat of our school going despite having an empty building. We want to celebrate our school community and the skills of resilience, hope and optimism that lie within us all. The aim of this art project is to do just that. When put together, this art project will be on display in the community to show to all who see it that the pupils and staff of Newtownmountkennedy Primary have strength in their bodies, positivity in their minds and hope in their hearts. We may all be spending time apart but we are very much together. What to do:
